Neighbourhood Plan Update

Thank you to everyone who responded to the Regulation 14 consultation and who visited the exhibition.

We are now collating, and reading through, every comment from the statutory consultees and members of the public.

Then over the next 6 weeks we will be reviewing the Regulation 14 document and preparing the Regulation 16 Neighbourhood Plan.

Our current timeframe is to provide a draft copy of the Reg 16 plan to the Town Council's Planning Committee to comment on at their meeting scheduled for Tuesday 27th August, it will then be signed off by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group on Tuesday 3rd September and recommended to the Town Council for formal consideration on Tuesday 10th September 2024.

As soon as the Regulation 16 Neighbourhood Plan is approved by the Town Council, it will be submitted to Cotswold District Council for statutory public consultation.

It is vital that we take time to consider every single comment received under the Regulation 14 consultation and to consider the impact on each of the proposed planning policies; the Neighbourhood Plan has to be fit for purpose and meet the future needs of the community; as we commence this process we may decide to defer the submission of the Regulation 16 Neighbourhood Plan to enable us more time to review the comments and feedback. We will keep you informed of any updates.

In addition to the statutory public consultation, which will be undertaken by Cotswold District Council, the aforementioned, Planning Committee and Town Council meetings are open to the public, providing an opportunity to comment on the draft versions of the Reg 16 plan.

Last Few Days!

During this 6-week Reg14 Consultation, we have been asking you for your opinion on the proposed 38 policies in the draft Cirencester Neighbourhood Plan (CNP), which address issues such as environment, heritage, community, access, movement, streets, spaces, town centre and local economy.

Preparing the CNP has been a community participative process with residents being appointed to the Steering Group and directly involved with shaping the Reg14 document.

Your views are very important in this process, as once ‘made’ the Neighbourhood Plan will hold legal status and as such would be used to influence and decide planning applications for new buildings and changes to existing buildings and decide on the use of land in Cirencester.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey and share it with friends and family before the closing date on 17th March 2024.

Cirencester Neighbourhood Plan Regulation 14 Consultation - 2024 - Your Thoughts So Far!

There's still time to respond to the Cirencester Neighbourhood Plan Regulation 14 Consultation and we thought you might like to know what others currently think. As we write this update we've had a total of 136 online responses, 31 anonymous, 93 confirmed, and 12 pending, which have together so far generated over 550 contributions. Over 150 of you visited our drop-in Exhibition at the Corinium Museum a couple of weeks ago and shared your thoughts with members of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.

We have been asking you for your opinion on the proposed 38 policies in the draft Neighbourhood Plan, which address issues such as environment, heritage, community, access, movement, streets, spaces, town centre and local economy.

It is important to us that we properly reflect your views as once ‘made’ the Neighbourhood Plan will hold legal status and as such would be used to influence and decide planning applications for new buildings and changes to existing buildings and decide on the use of land in Cirencester.

So far, 75% of contributions received overall have been positive or mostly positive in nature, with another 19% being neutral.

We will be analysing your comments in detail following this Regulation 14 Consultation and taking them into consideration, at the same time as ensuring we are compliant with all relevant legislation, as we develop the Regulation 16 draft.

If you’ve not yet told us what you think, please do so by the closing deadline of 17th March 2024.
